The lack DD+ bitstreaming we can't do anything about right now, but I'm looking into audio output volume issues, and hope to address it in a future update.

I didn't have the low audio problem until tonight. HTTYD was extremely low. I was at reference on my AVR and the sound output had to be at least 20 to 25 dBs off.

And about DD+ . . . I forgot where I read it, but Sony is working on it. From what it sounded like, it doesn't seem like an easy fix or one that'll be done anytime soon.

Have you tried changing the settings that were suggested in the following thread?

So is the problem with all audio and ps3? Or only 5.1? Or only stereo? I just have a PS3 hooked up to a TV... the TV is set to stereo, the PS3 is set to stereo, and I can't hear a thing... well I can hear "something" but it's super quiet with the audio cranked up. Is my problem the same as everyone else's, or is there a fix for me? Why would PS3 offer vudu if it doesn't work on PS3? I'm confused.

Followed your advice and email Sony and got a response to email Vudu about the problem. So it looks like Sony is not going to do anything about this problem with the audio with HDX movies. This sucks

What a joke to have this problem on the PS3.

wow this really sucks...the whole point of using Vudu is taking advantage of the great audio/video quality. If PS3 can't offer what the original Vudu boxes offer then why bother? Glad I kept my box

    Jake,
I would like to rent more HDX movies but with this problem with DD+ I'm going to wait. LCPM doesn't work either audio levels are too low. How do we get the message to Sony.

    Ah, thought so.

As far as a fix goes, I wouldn't even know where to start with Sony. Wouldn't it have more pull if Vudu asked Sony to fix it?

Based on the comment by Hagen looks like the "fix" would have to come from Sony. Hagen stated:

At this point the PS3 does not support DD+ pass through for applications besides blu-ray disk playback.
Until Sony support DD+ in applications there isn't much that can be done.

It's nice to have someone at Vudu acknowledge this problem.

Are we going to get a fix for this? One of the best parts of Vudu is the ability to get proper DD+ bitstreamed to our receivers. LCPM doesn't cut it because there is a problem with audio levels being too low as well.
