Failed to connect error code 28

Having this issue with my PS3 since Wednesday - I phoned my friend with a PS3 and he's having the same problem. Is there something wrong?

    My error details are :

    Hardware id: SPS3DEV 1de4b53 5724cf5 a15e14b 58dd9a6 34407EB 46F5B2
    Device id: 147A4B4
    Software version: 3.1.0-117811-Ps3

    And my friends are:

    Hardware id: SPS3DEV 1240b1d d7092bc b5c9379 f0745fc 656eeA8 D29140
    Device id: 13F29B3
    Software version: 3.1.0-117811-Ps3

    Please help!? Thanks.

This error code usually coincides with a network blockage on the local level. I would check to see if you have any firewall restrictions put in place that might be blocking Vudu on your end.

There really aren't any... It's a new problem and it is happening on two devices on different networks... is there not another fix?

Open a ticket with customer support so they can diagnose your network. They'll have you run a trace route to check your network path for blockages. Have you done the basic troubleshooting like power-cycling your network equipment?

Thanks, I guess I'll have to, I thought there was a fix with the hardware id etc because others seem to have had it fixed that way...

Yup done all the possible troubleshooting over the last 3 days, this was a last resort...

I'll open a support ticket when I can.

          Thanks.

Ps - also it is only on the PS3... all other devices including my pc work fine so I'm not sure a traceroute would come up with anything...

I reprovisioned both PS3's, try connecting again. Perhaps that might do the trick, let me know either way.

Thanks, appreciate it. So on my end it took three tries but it connected, I will check with my friend about his and get back to you, otherwise i'll open a support ticket if it was just a fluke.

              Thanks again

It's all very strange... so apparently no luck on his end so back to the drawing board for now. Thanks for your help though... and I'm not gonna exit the app for a while...

Hmmm - Just heard that he's connected after a bunch of tries... strange... you might have done it.

EDIT: Seems like it has been fixed...

I am having the exact same problem on my Tivo Roamio. Vudu worked fine for over a year, but just recently started returning the error code 28. I submitted a help request on April 21, but have heard nothing from customer service after the initial automatic email telling me "Your email is important to us and we will respond to you shortly." It seems "important" and "shortly" are open to interpretation...

I tried deactivating and reactivating the device, which worked once, so I thought all was good. But when I tried to get in later that night, it was back to the error code 28 screen.

All other providers - including Netflix and Amazon - work just fine, so I don't think it is a network problem on my end. I have not made any changes in my network router or firewall. Not sure I even remember how to do that...

Sorry to hear that, continue to work with customer care so they can diagnose your network for any blockages.

Thanks. I don't know about "continuing to work with Customer Care" since I haven't heard a peep from them. but I will wait and continue to use Amazon and Netflix in the meantime.
