I did also notice that every time the buffering recovered, the Vudu app displayed signal which was bouncing from zero bars to 4 bars.
    Momcat1,

I do apologize for the issues that you encountered last week. If you would please give us a call at (888)554-VUDU, we will be happy to take care of you.

we are experiencing the same buffering/loading problems described here. we stream sd movies thru our lg blue ray player wireless connected to a cisco router. our internet provider is cable - bresnan. we are very frustrated after spending money on several movies and not getting to finish watching them. Tonight we were watching Middle Men and didn't get halfway thru. if someone could contact us to help resolve these issues we would truly appreciate it.

Re: Movies keep buffering then are unable to stream even SD

I ran a speed test for my internet speed and it registered as extremely good. When I try and play a movie or tv series I get a message that pops up and says "SD streaming buffer underruns". It does this about every 30 seconds. What can I do?

This is also happening to me too with ATT U-Verse and a Roku box running the VUDU app. I switched to the Flixster app that I have on the same box and was able to stream an HDX movie in my collection with no issue. Must be how the VUDU app interacts with ROku. Thinking of getting a VUDU stick at Walmart since the Flixster app doesnt show all my movies. Will let you know what I find out. It is not our network speed as we have both proven.

I had same problem...buffer, buffer, buffer til the movie just stopped. I already had a Vudu dongle on hand, so I unplugged Roku, plugged in dongle and Vudu streams perfectly. Hmmmmm, so that tells me it is the Roku's issue. I have the Roku 4.

I have been having this same problem, but think it's my internet connection. I have Uverse giga power, and can only watch SD quality. It still buffers but not as often as HD/hdx. I went to my parents house, brought my 300 Mbit router and roku streaming stick, and watched several hdx movies without any buffering. They live out in the country with a small local IP. Very disappointed in AT&T.

                      Dear VUDU,

I have been struggling with the same issue through my Roku. I can stream 4k video on YouTube, watch any Netflix content, etc... All on the Roku. I have Comcast internet that speed treats great...obviously, I can stream 4K on other apps. My Roku is hard wired to my network...all the same things that others are commenting. Your service buffers and gives me the message that my internet speed is inadequate. It then suggests downgrading video quality (like all the other thread comments) to no avail...VUDU buffers every 15 seconds even at SD. I called Comcast and they sent a senior tech because this is the third time I have called them (because your app says it is my internet speed). Comcast tech tests the line and says the problem is VUDU. You guys are lying about the internet speed...the speed issue is on your end and the Comcast tech said this is an increasing problem that he has been dealing with.

Why won't you just admit that and help us understand why and what you are doing about it. When you ask all of these frivolous questions as though it is on the customers end, you seem disingenuous. When I can stream 4K on other apps over the exact same connection and can't get through 15 seconds of SD video on VUDU, it upsets me.

I love your app, your ingenious service and the convenience of VUDU. I just want you to tell us the truth about your bandwidth issues.

Have you filed a ticket with customer care so they can diagnose your network? Download speed alone does not determine a good connection. There are other factors that can cause poor performance.

My fix was simple I blocked 72.21.81.254 with my firewall, for chrome, then I relaunched Vudu in chrome and now it works with out studdering or buffering. Looks like all traffic is being routed through the above IP for me. Now it works without issue. Looks like EDGECAST - EdgeCast Networks, Inc.,US holds that IP and it is over loaded. BTW I am on the East Coast.

We have been experiencing these problems for months on end but only recently found this forum. We switched providers from AT&T Uverse to WOW! with double the UL/DL speeds and no bandwidth cap. Amazon and Netflix now work great but VUDU is even worse now. Doesn't matter whether we access from Samsung 4K TV, Samsung Blu-ray player or Xbox One (all wired to Netgear wireless extender). I read a post about ports required for browser access... do these same ports need to be configured in my ARRIS TG862G (cable router for WOW!)?

We have an extensive library (300+ titles) on VUDU/Ultraviolet - would be great if we could actually watch anything without constant reloading, dropping to lower quality (HDX->HD->SD).

Re: Movies keep buffering then are unable to stream even SD

We often have the same sort of problem of not being able to watch HD content due to excessive Buffering interruptions and getting an error when attempting to switch the SD. In our case, much of it *is* an ISP download issue as we are rural with fixed wireless. Guaranteed speed is only 768Kb but we often get 4-6Mb in good weather and off-peak. The problem is the link is fairly high latency even with good throughput: it is worlds better than satellite, but it is still a radio link. Even if I follow the suggestions above to tune the connection further (and I will) , the ISP is going to be a bottleneck.

**The thing is though, this really should not be an obstacle IF we could simply increase the buffer size.** It is *supremely* irritating to have the app keep interrupting to "buffer" but it never actually *buffers* enough content. I don't have *any* problem with hitting PAUSE and coming back in an hour or streaming overnight, off-peak. I have no problem adding storage to the BD-player for local buffering. But, except in the Android app, it is NOT easy to pre-download content to deal with network issues. We're rural, we don't get things instantly, and we understand that, but it seems like the VUDU service does not really take that into account in a reasonable fashion. When we used AppleTV and iTunes, we had little problem with that, even over satellite, because it took advantage of local storage. We have started using VUDU for some things, particularly when we have access to LTE off-farm, but more often we buy DVDs and BDs just because streaming is *too much of a pain*.

I have the same problem. I have a Samsung UN65JU6700FXZA. using the Vudu app via Samsung smart hub smart tv. The TV is Ethernet connected via Cat 6 STP to my 10/100/1000 Asus router. Which is also connected cat6 to the modem. ISP is AT&T i average 20-25 MB down and same up.
I have no problem when Any move starts via HDX. about 45 minutes in, it gives up, and I have to switch to SD.
Now I have no problem Streaming HULU and Netflix 24-7 at 1080p. Also on the bedroom tv connected to a roku wireless has no problem streaming entire HDX movies from vudu.
I did switch the DNS on the samsung to 8.8.4.4, that did not help.
                                please help.
