    Streaming problems, almost constantly

Been a Vudu customer for a couple of months now and rented about a dozen movies, all in HDX. Two or three times, the movie worked fine, rebuffering only a few times. When it works, it's amazing! But most of the time, it is constantly buffering. 20-30 times per movie. It doesn't seem to matter if I degrade the quality to HD or SD.

    My system:

Charter Cable tests at 20Mbps up/2Mbps Down. I've been testing this for two months using 4 different speed test sights. Rock solid.

    LinkSys Cable Modem
Netgear WMDR3700 wireless router, radios off.
2nd Netgear WMDT3700 wires to the first as a remote AP.
3 different Samsung devices (1 3D TV, 1 BD Home Theater, 1 BD player)

I've spent literally days working on this trying all combinations of Samsung devices, 2.4GHz wireless channels and speeds and channel bonding. Graphing the broadband usage on my laptop shows nothing but steady-Eddie bandwidth.

I am at wits end! Please help.

Hard-wired I get ~17.5Mbps almost every time using the Samsung device speed test. Using wireless, it varies from 10Mbps to about 15Mbps. Testing today during off-peak hours, wireless worked perfectly during about 4 hours of video.. Last night (Monday), VuDu wireless was a disaster. Sunday, VuDo disaster too. Friday night, perfect. I just don't get it.

Tuesday night VuDu speed test was running about 5Mbps. Charter Cable speed Test always showed a solid 20Mbps. This morning, VuDu speed test was back up to 21Mbps. Charter Speed, 22Mbps.

It looks to me like a problem up the pipe, beyond my cable provider. I'm guessing Vudu servers and/or associated network.

Feel your pain. I hope someone from vudu helps you out soon.

Would be great to have an option to download and save the movies to external hard drive to avoid the streaming inconsistancies. Put a timestamp in the file to disable play after a certain point for rentals.

Not having confidence in the streaming success really puts a damper on "movie nights".

If you find a resolution please post! It would help many others out.

        Thanks

Are both of your routers set to handle dhcp? or is one just acting as a switch?

The #1 router (basement) is connected to the cable modem and acts as an internet router, switch, and DHCP server. #2 router is centrally located, is wired to the first and acts as the wireless access point with DHCP disabled. Nevertheless, I use static IPs for everything. For the DNS address, I use the router's address DHCP server, which gets its DNS settings from the ISP Charter Cable.

Looks like I'm giving up on VuDu. Poor service, poor support. At least DirectTV will be happy to see me renting movies again.

If it seems too good to be true....

My apologies for the lack of a response Holley; If you would be willing to send me a message with your email address you used to create your vudu account. I will take a look at your streaming sessions and see if there is anything we can change for you.
