    Extreme Buffering Peak Evening Hours

3 days with Tech Support only to have them say it was my ISP's fault...very disappointing. However, Vudu support were always great to talk to...just no solution.

Vudu is a great service when I can access my purchased HDX movies. Any help on this would be appreciated.

    Updated cable modem to SB6121
    Updated Router to Linksys e4200
    Added Extender Linksys RE1000

All my main devices on a fixed ip and Verizon or Google DNS...no IP conflicts or dropped signals.

Vudu ports opened up in router.

Cox & Linksys Speedtest always maxed...at 20Mbps dl constant day or night...wired or wireless. Various online speedtests no issues. These are only small files compared to movies...so I tested other steaming dl apps.

Downloaded 9Gb game from steam at constant max speeds 2.1Mbps no dropped connection during peak hours.

Can stream Zune and Netflix HD movies with no buffering issues during peak hours from same devices.

Called Cox and they checked connection all appeared good with modem.

Full Bars on home wireless connection to both Vudu TVs LG LW6500 models

Vudu Speed tests are maxed at 9 on both TVs UNTIL evening hours around 8pm

Tracert to Vudu server only timed out at their server hop 2 days...7pm-9pm AZT

Vudu speed test duing 8pm hour (AZ time) will not even connect to test server most times.

Tech support said they were putting my account on a test server...played Tangled 3D...no change. Not sure test actually happened.

Bottom line is tracert timeouts only at Vudu servers at peak hours and I never have streaming issues with other services during that same time...why blame it my ISP? Seems like an obvious Vudu load balancing issue to me. I can't be the only one seeing buffering issues during peak hours?

    Post Your Outage Times

Lets post when your outages occurs ... maybe there is a pattern.

Mine sometimes occur between 7pm - 9pm MST.

      Proto,

I can run the test again if you would like, that way we can confirm if the issue follows your ISP or only occurs on your local VUDU server.

I have same issue. During peek hours VUDU buffers to the point it's unwatchable. I have two tvs with Vudu and they both have the issue. When I run network test it stops and says there was a network issue. If I use amazon on Demand, Netflix or blockbuster I have no issue. I also connect t 20 Mbps so that's not an issue. Is it possible FIOS is blocking the VUDU traffic during peek hours?

I have FIOS Quantum and I have no issue with VUDU being blocked nor throttled at any time, even peak hours...I don't know if you did this or not, but make sure your router is not the DNS server, you want to have DNS provided directly......The router could be a bottleneck...

I have the same issues. During afternoons (Central Time Zone), I have no problem streaming HDX movies, but I am unable to stream the same movies at night. These are the movies I own on Vudu. Checked the download speed on my phone which is also connected to the home router, and it is always at least 14 Mbps. Any help? Thanks!

i checked my internet bandwidth using VUDU Speed test last night. It was barely around 2.5 Mbps. This morning it's 17 Mbps. Nothing's changed on my end. Is VUDU just slow in the evening time as many are trying to stream?

Re: Extreme Buffering Peak Evening Hours

Of course this is what I and many others have been experiencing for over a month now.
Nothing seems to help and no help from Vudu phone support.

Even if I run the Vudu speed test on my BR player and it says I can stream an HDX movie I will just do regular HD and it will not run. It will tell me to drop to SD...of course that is after I have paid for HD thinking since their own speed test tells me HDX is possible that regular HD would be a cake walk.

Just to be clear I am not new to Vudu. We have enjoyed evening and night time HD rentals for a year or more until this all started.
