I'm happy getting the HDX movies now and wait for the UI to catch up when they can.

If we had to wait for every Nth detail to be right we probably wouldn't see HDX for another 3 to 6 months.

By my count 181 of the 1156 HD titles are available in HDX format.

My marketing scheme is working nicely.

Orders from the Pentagon have picked up "exponentially"!!!

(also keep an eye out for black friday specials on HD Rentals)

Hodge, I hope you have some wine ready for that cheese come Black Friday.

No, a black Friday discount doesn't count. The REGULAR price of HD rentals would need to drop to $4.99 and HDX movies stay at $5.99.

Please guys, even if you PLAN to do this, don't do it until after the first of the year. I really want to eat cheese not send it to some old fart...

I believe I see a little bit of sweat beading on Shultzy's upper lip area.

The only old fart is the one that comes after eating lots of cheese!!

                  This is true. Sorry Hodge!

                    Note the original T's & C's above.

Clearly the point of the wager is Vudu implementing a 3 tiered price structure. I would be surprised if the BF sale prices have 3 tiers. I'm guessing rental and PURCHASE prices for HD and HDX will continue to reside in the same tier. While they may both move to a lower tier, they'll move there together.

That reflects the bet as I believe it be. That the bet is on a 3-tier pricing scheme, not necessiarily the price itself. I'm guessing this will be done by lowering the rental HD price to $4.99 while leaving the HDX at $5.99.

But technically I think I would also win if HD rentals remained at $5.99 and they raised HDX to $6.99. (Even though I personally wouldn't be happy with that)

Hey, if we're making side bets, I'll take ham and cheese, thank you! (Just kidding, of course...that ham costs more than any wine I've ever had. Interesting catalog, though. I used to order Hojiblanca olive oil from there, but they stopped carrying it.)

IF... you win the bet, I'll be glad to send you a bottle of your favorite brand of Boones Farm. I would need to know if you prefer peach, apple or sterno ?

That better be some pretty damn good jamon for that price! YEOW!

I thought $17 a pound prosciutto was expensive (fyi: the $17 a pound stuff from Italy DID taste a heck of a lot better than the $5 a pound stuff made here).

Yeah, at some point it's about rarity and the prestige attached to it. I had the good fortune to receive tickets to a scotch tasting dinner at The Palm in DC, and I got to taste a $2,000/bottle Glenlivet. While it was definitely one of the best I've ever had, if I hadn't known the price I would have valued that taste quality as equivalent to roughly 7-8 bottles of some quite good single malts that sell for somewhat under $50 apiece. Considering I could buy ~50 bottles of a quite good scotch for what that one cost, I can't picture ever paying $2k for one bottle, even if I had money to burn.

And Hodge, can't we compromise and pick a name-brand turpentine, or at least Genny Cream Ale?

I'm glad I rarely drink any alcoholic beverages. I drank more in one month back in 1980 in high school than i have in the last 10 years.
