Perhaps, but Netflix doesn't charge more for BD than they do for DVDs. I'm not saying I know you are wrong. I'm just saying that it isn't obvious that you are right.

It's obvious to the most casual observer.

I forgot to say... The deadline would be Christmas day.

I understand the wager to be that HeadHodge believes that there will be a 3 tiered price structure for Vudu shows - SD, HD, HDX on or before December 10th (want to insure delivery by Christmas). I accept that wager, with the understanding that if there is a 3 tiered structure by then, I have to send the Hodge the Euro cheese product in the referenced link. In the event that the Vudu two tier price structure stays the way it is (i.e. SD at one price and HD/HDX at the same second tier price), the Hodge will be sending me said Euro cheese product.

I pick 1 lb. as the denomination. If I find out I really like this stuff, I'll increase the wager next year!

Ooooh, now that I see the secret ingredient, I feel I should get in on this action. I'm in for a pound.

I'm in for a pound as well.

The reason I think there will be no HDX price increase is two-fold:

1.) Why didn't they do it when it was introduced. It's hard to increase prices after the fact.

2.) Many people will prefer to get their movies INSTANTLY rather than wait 3 hours. I know that for most movies, I'll choose regular HD over HDX to a factor of probably 8 times out of 10. Raising the price for HDX would drive people toward HD even more.

It wouldn't be a a price increase after the fact. It would be a price decrease since the top HD price could drop to $4.99 from $5.99. And HDX could stay at the $5.99 price.
And the top SD price could stay at $3.99
                        so
                        SD - $3.99
                        HD- $4.99
                        HDX - $5.99

That pricing structure would stay competitive with the other providers.

I'd have to argue that my renting of Close Encounters of the Third Kind HDX (would you guys have understood CETK?) for $3.99 today was very competitive.

So you're suggesting a price structure of:

                              SD: $1.99
                              HD: $2.99
                              HDX: $3.99

                              ????

                              Sweet!!!!

I think $5.99 for HDX is respectable and Id pay it. Start getting higher and you start getting into rental vs buy.

The theaters have blurred these lines which is why I buy movies now instead of going to the theater.
