Both my spouse and SO agree with you.

What I belive I observe with rentals is now that you can extend the 24 hour clock for a fee, the rented movies appear to linger around much longer than they used to after watching them.

I would hope that for movies that are lurking on the box to facilitate p2p would take 2nd seat to a movie that I want to rent and watch.

Oh, they absolutely do. If the box runs out of room with a new rental the old stuff gets overwritten. At least, that's how I think it works. I really don't know for certain (they don't tell me much ).

Do your spouse and SO know each other!

I love cheesy, gross horror/slasher flicks, and rent them as much as anything except science fiction, and my daughter often wants to rent a movie she recently saw again as an extended rental. Obviously, I'd prefer the blood-spattered posters didn't show up when she tries to extend "Clifford's Really Big Movie", so I could really use the ability to remove my own rentals from "My Vudu".

There aren't any parental controls to take care of this?

Kind of, but I don't usually need to hide the posters; if they're on the "film strip" on the home page, for example, they're kind of small. However, if they're rolled over on the "My Rentals" page, you get a full-screen poster. I'd prefer to remove it from that list than have to go to switch Parental Controls on and off all the time just to see any R-rated movies. But if I were desperate, I certainly could do that.

              Re: HDX Movies?!

I just found something new and interesting on my Directv DVR.

When you list the content that's recorded on your DVR, there is a section called "Movies Now and Showcases".

I went to the "Movies Now" and was really surprised to find 8 New Release HD Movies had been pushed to my DVR without my request. So I now have 8 HD movies available to "Instantly" watch on my DVR if I want to.

None of them are in 1080/24p a.k.a HDX (yet), so I didn't rent any of them. But considering they predownloaded almost all of the same movies I've just ordered from VUDU, I find it an interesting concept.

Now much to my disgust, they also pushed 2 Hussein Obama commercials to my DVR as well, in the Showcases section.

Yeah, the Movies Now auto downloads have been active for awhile. Its very good for the 1080i PPV's and instant watching, I imagine theyll start doing it with 1080p once it goes live. This is why DVR's dont have full access to the entire HDD for recording shows, Directv reserved it for movies and such.

And yes, Im very unhappy they pushed political crap to my HDD for a quick buck.

                  I've brought this up before...

I think VUDU could do a very similar thing by using the Wishlist more effectively.

If I could go to "Coming Soon" (or other movie discovery sections) and add selected movies to My Wishlist and then VUDU would add these movies (behhind the scenes) to my VUDU box as they become available, it would come close to making the HDX movies that I'm interested in available for Instant View.

If memory servers me right, I think Shultzy argues that this could also facilitate a more effecient P2P system.

I really dont see why you cant go to a movie NOW, 88 minutes for example (hd release on 10-31), and pick it to download as soon as its out. Seems goofy that you have to wait until the day of.

You know that would really boost my usage of HDX since I would only need to know that I wanted to watch the movie sometime in the next 30 days to have the benefit of wathcing it "instantly". I think that is a very good idea.

Its pretty obvious as the next step to me in this model. If Vudu wish's to compete with media and Netflix/BB, they need to offer you some kinda queue system.

As SOON as a movie has a rent date, let me pick it for download, then on the date it becomes available, charge me and send it to my box.

Legally for VUDU the content cannot be put on your VUDU until you have rented it or purchased it. Now DirecTV may have other legal agreements that allows some of their content to be pushed out.

On the Obama ads...just keep watching and you will finally believe just as Joe the Plumber believes.
