I can honestly see this as being the reason for all the digital services closing up shop as well as the fall of UV. It looks like all the studios are jumping ship and throwing their support in for Apple.

Man, we've got some fair-weather bandwagon fans in here. Let's give Vudu a chance to respond. Please don't forget that Vudu has given us D2D. I would never own the amount of HD digital movies I do without D2D. They've done a good job implementing Vudu Extras and continue to improve the service. Let's give them a chance.

Good heavens people - iTunes has 124 titles and Vudu has 121. Enough with the constant drama!

Yeah, but VUDU seems to only add a new UHD title every other week or so. They only have Warner, Paramount, and some Universal at their disposal.

And a small chunk of those on Vudu are fluff titles. Like many of them at the bottom on the list.

And when I see thing like all the latest Universial titles will only be available when Vudu adds HDR10, the Batman Harley title that's WB but not on Vudu for some odd reason when so many WB are. All of which are on iTunes.

I love Vudu and not jumping ship yet. But that doesn't mean I'm not putting on a life vest to be safe. Or in my case pulling all my digital slips and putting them into iTunes which I stopped double redeeming (iTunes and UV) many years back.

I'm an Apple guy myself with probably 40 iTunes movies but 500+ on Vudu. There are too many people in the world who hate or dislike Apple that there is no way the new 4K Apple TV will singlehandedly close Vudu/UV down. But I will be buying one (own two 4's already) instead of a Roku AND redeeming more iTunes codes now because of it.

Exactly this. In terms of UV, VUDU is borderline the last man standing. I thought studios like Fox and Sony were holding onto their digital titles because they wanted to do their own thing, but the fact that they're with Apple has me worried. As you said, the majority of Universal titles that have come out recently have not been put on VUDU because of their lack of HDR10 support, something that was promised almost a year ago. VUDU does not seem to be pushing it with UHD. They are on very few devices and barely add titles. I have a huge library, so as you said, I'm not jumping ship yet, but its certainly on my mind.

I'm definitely second-guessing my decision to switch to Vudu for single-redemption digital titles like FOX. I hope Vudu follows suit with Apple and has one price for UHd/HDX and upgrade existing. There should really only be one Digital version and you just get whatever the best quality available for playback is.

Remember that UV is not a 3rd party, but it is owned and operated by the studios themselves. They won't let one retailer have an advantage over their own ecosystem. This deal apparently came together only a week ago. I have all the faith in the world that they will put their own product on level with iTunes...

Does the Apple TV 4K have Dolby Atmos?

Also, I think Vudu will step it up because Walmart has invested a lot into it so far. The market is pretty much Vudu and iTunes. I really hope iron sharpens iron and the customers end up as the winner on both sides.

To be honest, I really hope that those secret discussions between Disney and some of those un-named major studios come together with Disney's DMA so it could allow our movies to available on any major provider. I hate having my movies split up here and there due to one provider may have better deals or a movie that isn't offered by certain providers.

Last I heard was it's technically possible but not currently confirmed. Just pre-ordered by new Apple TV this morning so we'll find out soon. Hopefully since I just got a new Atmos surround setup at home.

I think so too. I know a lot of Vudu fans are anxious right now but I imagine that big news is well on the way, but no one can comment or release anything until it's finalized.

                            ATMOS ?

Anyone confirm if the audio on the 4k titles showing in their iTunes library is Atmos, 7.1, or 5.1 ?

Suppose we have to wait until Apple TV ships; bit I figure Apple would comment on it or the iTunes store would specify the audio format.

If all the other UHD titles have only one purchase tier, do you think we are closer to getting all those titles upgraded in the future?
