    Re: Walmart vudu promotions

It looks like A Good Day to Die Hard will be available for preorder at Wal-Mart starting either 5/7 or 5/14. According to the display I saw, it appears to include a VUDU copy of the movie(available 5/14) as well as Die Hard 1 & 2. Pretty good deal, although it's worth noting that Die Hard 5 was awful. Still, you could always unload the Blu-ray and just keep all the digital copies and it won't cost you much.

Same here. Well technically I don't have all of them, since I've got the unrated Die Hard 4 and not the PG-13 version. I may get the Worst Buy preorder for Die Hard 5 since I'm anticipating the Wal-Mart one will cost $24.96 and the Worst Buy one will cost less.

          Re: Walmart vudu promotions

I swung by my local WM this morning and grabbed a Hansel & Gretel Witch Hunters preorder for $24.96. It comes with the uncut version movie (available 5/21) and a Vudu copy of Sleepy Hollow. When I went to redeem it, I saw that there is also a preorder up for Identity Theft. I didn't see any of those at my store, but I would assume it's a similar $19-$25 and may or may not come with another movie.

Thanks! How did you go about finding that link? I searched around on VUDU and couldn't find it.

I do these routinely and this is the first time I have had trouble with the provided link in the package.

ohh, nice. I have SleepyHollow in my library. HDX version.

                        https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B7kG...it?usp=sharing

I really like that title and it is a good match to Hansel & Gretel. I do have a problem getting SD UV redemptions. I have become a real fanatic concerning HDX. If I am given for free an SD version, I almost want to skip and pay instead for an HDX version just so I can have the HDX in my UV locker.

I do not know what it is like in your home, but watching an HDX version is just so nice it is hard to go back to SD once the HDX bug has sunk its teeth into you.

The problem with UV redemptions is unless I buy a bluray disc version I do not get an HDX UV redemption.

This is a big problem for me. If I am going to fork over the premium for a bluray disc copy, I might as well just get the EST version instead and save having to store another plastic case in my boxes in my garage. I have not bought a packaged media in about two years. All my new titles since then have been EST versions and I just do not see me going back to packaged media any time soon, if ever.

                        I bought Hunger Games to give to my son for his birthday. I do not count that one. Before that, the last packaged media I bought was Harry Potter DH#2 in 2011. It was also the first title I redeemed via UV. Since then, all my entertainment media purchases have been EST. Titles include;

                        1) Sherlock Holmes
                        2) Sherlock Holmes - Game of Shadows
                        3) Transformers #2
                        4) Transformers #3
                        5) PotC - On Stranger Tides
                        6) Conan The Barbarian (2011)
                        7) Contact
                        8) Mission Impossible Collection
                        9) Indiana Jones Collection
                        10) Predator (1987)
                        11) Shaolin
                        12) Robin Hood (2010)
                        13) Snow White & The Huntsmen
                        14) Seven Years in Tibet
                        15) Independence Day

I just can not seem to find reason to buy packaged media anymore. I am in the mode of completing to convert my existing packaged media library into UV via D2D and continuing on the path of EST for future purchases.

What benefit is there in paying for the physical media?

I do also... I actually went out and bought the movies that VUDU and Flixster gave me for free in SD and paid to converted them to HD. The only things I have in SD are things that aren't available in HDX or kids movies that I'll never watch like Barbie Mermaid something or Scooby Doo meets (random stuff), kids don't mind the SD. Glad to hear its HDX version. I'll probably go pick it up.

sometime watch "The Road to El Dorado" or "Happily Never After" in HDX and tell me the children do not notice the difference. When we got those titles updated to HDX from DVD, the kids re-watched and it was like they were new movies. Cartoons become exceedingly vivid in HDX. I agree though that Barbie Goes Shopping is not worth the effort. Scoobie Doo On BLANK Planet/Island......

Anyway. I like your D2D trick for the free ones from Flixster.

                              1. Not having to rely on less than perfect bandwidth
                              2. Better Quality Audio and Video
                              3. Can be given as gifts and/or sold later on - not counting gift cards...
                              4. Bonus features and commentary tracks
                              5. Wider range of titles
                              6. Sometimes lower prices, especially with TV shows. iTunes and Vudu's prices for single seasons are too high
                              7. Collectibility (is that a word?) I collect steelbooks, and I would hate to see the discontinuation of physical media.

I agree and most of my Vudu movies were obtained for the following reasons:

                                1. Only available in HD via Vudu and can't get the physical media in HD.
                                2. Did the D2D on Vudu because the physical media was in the now defunct HD DVD.
                                3. Only redeemed the UV title because it came free with the physical media.
                                4. A lot cheaper to get the digital version than the physical media (very few fall into this category).

I have 441 blu-ray disks (not including SD) and only 88 Vudu movies.
