The key word there is used and the studios don't care to support used discs and I can't blame them.

Disc-to-digital does support used DVDs, and I can't think of any other reason why many new releases that come with a code would also be made available for D2D if the studios didn't want to support used discs.

4 new* titles found: Latest Updates

        * These are new release/straight-to-video, so probably earmarked for D2D, but will not work at home.

Wrong, one of the main uses of Disc to digital is for used discs. Studios know that discs are resold or given away. Disc to digital allows them to capture some additional income when they are converted to digital. If Vudu used Rovi's database instead of Gracenote, most of the recent movies would work.

Who do you think owns GraceNote ... Sony. There's also a reason why studios have started to make different Rental discs. This has to due with the loss of new Blu-ray sales to used rental sales; if you want the complete/best package you have to buy new. Also, why do you think rental (used) discs (those that aren't the same version as the retail version) don't work with D2D?

So you are saying Gracenote deliberately has a lousy database because they secretly don't want to support disc to digital and therefore the threads on here of D2D problems and Vudu's attempt to fix them are all a sham or are being sabotaged by Gracenote. OK.

Much of the used market is not rental discs and that was not what was referred to before.
Amazon, Family Home Video, Go Hastings and pawn shops, among others sell used non rental discs.

If the studios didn't want D2D on new releases they wouldn't let Vudu offer them. Vudu can't allow D2D without the studio's permission. And all the recent discs on the D2D list work in store.

FYI - Sony sold Gracenote last year to the Tribune Company.

I would say it's just gracenote not being up to snuff rather than deliberately holding back. Gracenote does read some very new releases (The Croods, Bad Grandpa) and they came with UV codes. Purposely holding back titles that you could then just walk into a walmart with wouldn't really get them anywhere except to send people to other services once those movies are supported. Magic Magic is a good example of this. I could take it to Walmart or just go to one of the competitors. It's a fairly new movie that came with a UV code but does not work with Vudu's home software but does work with at least one of Vudu's competitors. I can't see Vudu purposely pushing people away. Vudu just seems to have sided with the wrong database provider. And then there's the whole double sided DVD issue.... They are sending at least me to the competition because those usually work at the other services.

The Patriot is not yet on the list, but I see it was mentioned earlier on the thread.

The Patriot has been D2D for quite a while now and it's listed as "El Patriota (The Patriot)" on the list for whatever reason.

Rope is another new one. It's available for D2D, but for some reason the movie doesn't pull up in Vudu when you search for it.

Titles that are D2D only seem to not show up in a search. Here's the actual page for Rope:

I just found out that Rope isn't new, in fact I already own it! I converted SEVERAL Hitchcock titles a long time ago, but Rope was recently added to my personal watch list because I thought it wasn't available on Vudu since it doesn't show up when I search for it by title or when I click on Hitchcock to view all his movies. I wish Vudu would fix this! When you have a bunch of movies, it's easy to loose track of which movies in your collection are in your UV locker and which ones are not.
