      Walter,

This is just a suggestion, but wouldn't your table be better suited in the OP or maybe make a thread specifically for the table. This way when it's updated we can easily find the current table in case the replies to the thread become too many. Either way thanks for making the table.

I was thinking the same thing. Instead of re-posting the table 15 times, just edit the first post it in your thread, and update it as neccessary. And then remove it from all the other posts. It will reduce cluttter.

          That's a good suggestion.

The title of the thread also seems a bit... I dunno, heavy-handed and biased? Less agenda, more facts would be best.

Sure, no major studio is offering iTunes' Digital Downloads exclusively any more, but they are still offered as options in the same places.

I see this news as more like "The Solidification of UltraViolet/VUDU in the Digital Copy Market" and less about "iTunes' demise."

Again, choice for the consumer is always best.

There was no choice when iTunes was the sole option.

I am glad the metro-folks from Apple are being driven from this new market by an angry mob with torches and pitchforkes.

iTunes was cute for MP3 kinds of things, but no way would I marry myself to Apple with respect to my home entertainment collection.

The dictionary definition of demise: "end of something: the end of something that used to exist, especially when it happens slowly and predictably"

I am sorry you do not like this word. Sometimes reality is harsh.

However, only a short time ago, the iTunes logo was dominant in this market. Now, even Disney who was their last holdout, does not print the iTunes logo on their packaged media any more. You are deluding yourself if you can not see the trend and think iTunes still holds a footing in the market.

They have been driven inexorably, deliberately, and successfully from the digital copy market. The word demise is appropriate and correctly used for this description.

sadly, I enjoy reposting the table. I am having fun perfecting the forum syntax. Generating clutter or background noise is a form of raising cane I enjoy too.

sorry. I fear it is a character flaw.

plus, I am glad to see iTunes depart and my reposting of the table is a form of cathartic jubilation at their downfall.

Their attempt to corner the market HAS FAILED!!!! Yeah!!!!

It's not that I "do not like this word." It's not that I don't appreciate the "reality" of the marketplace. I am perfectly able to "see the trend" and I do not "think iTunes still holds a footing in the market." I'm a huge VUDU supporter, even though I have all Apple gear (including AppleTVs) in my home. I, too, am happy about their loss of exclusivity in this space!

I don't know how to make myself clearer on this front.

It's your gloating and cheerleading (and clear bias) that's making this thread come off like the ravings of a fanboy.
I'm just suggesting you stick to the facts, with less emotion, to clearly share data with no prejudice. The way you're sharing your glee, it's as if iTunes is the dingo that ate your baby.

                WTF?

Facts, please. Your chart is wonderful and helpful, all this other commentary devalues it. We're all intelligent here and the chart speaks for itself, that's all.

He's merely suggesting you *also* update the table in the first post of this thread -- since that's the post many will glance at first (or only.) Ergo, they won't see your updates.

okay. I'll put effort into staying on the beam. I promise.

I do think the description of me being a raving gloating fanboy'esk is sadly accurate. I will try to moderate the tone a bit and keep the gloating to myself.

I mean, reposting table due to slight punctuation change.
