However, even if MS does code the app I'd be shocked if Vudu didn't have some input into the design. But maybe who writes it differs from app to app - which, if MS made it, would explain why the Vudu app is so terrible compared to MS's own video app which is much nicer (MS doesn't want Vudu to appear as a better alternative to their closed system).

By the way, if you go online on your computer and sort your movies differently that sort order will appear on the Xbox One Vudu app.
Vudu told me to contact Xbox support. Xbox support said they do not make the Vudu app and to contact Vudu. Vudu then said IDK.

When I asked for who makes the app from both parties, I was not given any info but just a run around. Which most likely it's a 3rd party company and the reason nothing is happening is because neither Microsoft or Vudu are pushing the issue to get it resolved.

They don't give a crap if its good, it just has to work to make them money. And as long as everyone is willing to give them money, why waste productive time fixing something that won't bring in more money?

      oh yeah,

It annoying in the Xbox 1 app, you search through 100 movies the view a trailer of one movie, then have to click the B button to go back. But instead of being taken back to the 101 movie you were at in the list, you are taken back to movie 1 and have to scroll through the 100 movies again.

This app is awful, awful, awful. I'm glad my first exposure to VUDU wasn't through this app. I wanted to make the XBox One my all-in-one go-to media center, but I can't do that for the time being. I'm afraid this is really going to put my beloved service behind in the market share.

Yes, the app is now unbearable to use, it becomes very laggy when I browse a row of movies and errors out a lot. I'm still positive that someone will fix these issues, maybe even port over the PS4 app?

I agree, the Vudu X1 app is hideous, too many faults, lacking features and so on.
and its no way of tracking what you have seen or not.
its a hassle to use this app, other X1 is way beyond this primitive app.

Vudu, the Xbox One app is horrible. Nobody is going to want to use that crappy app. This is going to cost you market share. Someone who only has the xb1 and does not have anything else is NOT going to use your app. Since the future is streaming, you need to go ahead and spend some money on your app on all the gaming systems. Otherwise, you just cost yourself viewers and future Vudu members. Those viewers are going to drift to other apps.

It is not in Xbox's interest to spend money on your app. From a marketing standpoint, they only need to say that they have a vudu app because buyers are not likely to test the app before buying, nor is it likely to be a key selling point beyond just the number of apps available. Money spent now will pay dividends down the road.

I've got a roku. I'll watch vudu on that if I want. If I want to watch video on the xb1, vudu is a low choice.

                  Re: Xbox One Layout

I don't understand how Vudu can possibly be happy with their Xbox One app. They should be embarrassed. It's cumbersome and very unfriendly to use. I don't know about everyone else, but I suffer from constant buffering issues using the Xbox One Vudu app. I do not have this problem with Vudu on other devices. Other Xbox One apps don't have the buffering issues Vudu has either. What's going on?

If the Xbox One app is the only way a potential customer is exposed to Vudu, then you can forget about them being a customer. It looks and performs very amateurish.

Vudu, how are you okay with this? It's truly awful.

Vudu has a higher bandwidth requirement then Netflix. It is needed in order to deliver HDX quality to our customers. Higher quality resolution makes for more data, more data requires more speed in terms of streaming.

Internet speed is not the only cause of buffering. Lost packets are also a cause. You can have a bandwidth of a million Mbps. If your ISP drops packets or blocks ports, you're going to have problems.

I'm not sure what you guys are reading or not reading, but it's been said repeatedly. The buffering issues are only encountered with the Vudu app on the Xbox One. The Vudu app works fine on other devices without buffering issues. Also, other apps on the Xbox One work fine without buffering issues. This is not an ISP issue, blocked ports, etc. Like hokie5007 said, it's a terrible app. That's all there is to it.

Thank goodness someone gets it. I have buffering issues even on HD and SD with the Vudu Xbox One app. 5+ times I've tested my speed and bandwidth and my connection and get told I have more then enough to play HDX.

I don't have other devices streaming, no uploads or downloads, no PC gaming while streaming and it still fails.

So I just saw the Vudu app on the Vizio smart TV and it is perfect in layout and such. Hope Xbox gets an app like that. It has a page for resume recent watched, organization and just wow.
