You should see the IR dongle listed on this page for $40: https://my.vudu.com/buynow/

Plug it in, face the receiver diode forward and you should be able to use any Harmony remote.

    Re: IR support

What is netremote? If I own a pronto TSU9400 - do I need to buy an IR dongle to control Vudu? I would prefer to save the $39 if netremote is a lower cost option.

    Thanks

    Re: IR support

The RF side of the URC remote is used specifically to talk to their base stations which then to serial or IR to the devices. I use a MX-900 and MRF-350 at home myself and it works pretty well.

I have an MX-500 and before I buy the IR kit, I am trying to see if someone has the file for the MX-500.

I have always had good luck finding the files for controlling my various devices on remotecentral.com but a search on VUDU on that website came up empty.

How did you program your MX-500?

    Thanks

I just installed these on my TSU7500NG. They don't work either with or without the VUDU IR cable (which cost me $50 including shipping).

    Re: IR support

I uploaded the Keymap Master file that worked correctly on the first try with my 2117 and HTPro remotes: http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dl...e&file_id=5676

If you have one of the new Atlas style remotes, you have to follow the manual process in the above post to make your own keymap file. Someday, when I have some more time on my hands, I might try to reconnect with the guy who was writing custom code for the p8/740 remotes and try to write a protocol conversion for those. ( I still have two 15-1995s around here somewhere)

So, my wife knows I'm a geek, but I think she hurt herself rolling her eyes at me last night. My excitement while explaining how hex has to be converted to binary which has to be interpreted and decoded and then assembler code has to be written by hand by some guy named Robman was not reciprocated by her.

    oh well.

ONE ROOM, ONE REMOTE! ONE ROOM, ONE REMOTE! ONE ROOM, ONE REMOTE!

ps: If you are not familiar with JP1, feel free to crack open a cold one and start reading: http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1009

the pertinent details in this post have been incorporated into the other sticky thread and I'll try to remember to only update the other one from now on....thanks MaxH

Rob is a great guy and has been at this stuff a long, long time.

Wow, that's fantastic! I've copied your post into a new sticky thread in "First Time Setup" called "Programming a JP1 remote for Vudu", because that's where I think people will look for it.

Sweet...Now, I have a reason to get the JP1 cable and all - I need to add the codes so I can control the Vudu with my Slingbox!

    Re: IR support

OK, the JP1 crew has done it. I can't really take much credit, myself. In cases like this, much smarter people have to write assembler code by hand to create a protocol. If you know much about JP1, you've heard of the Robman. He wrote the protocol code and got it spot on in the first try.

    In Keymap Master:

Protocol: Manual Settings (paste the code for your remote's processor into the notes/3rd party protocol box)

    Upgrade protocol 0 = 01 FF (S3C8+) Vudu (PB v4.00)
    40 84 21 8B 13 CE 4C 08 08 01 18 03 16 01 18 01
    04 BD 38 11 80 08 AC 08 E4 05 06 F0 06 B6 06 0F
    20 11 F6 01 46 E6 12 01 E6 11 00 B6 29 01 8D 01
    46
    End

    OR

    Upgrade protocol 0 = 01 FF (HCS08) Vudu (PB v4.00)
    20 16 21 43 21 CF 4C 08 08 01 18 03 2A 01 18 01
    18 BD 38 11 80 08 C0 08 B6 62 62 A8 0F B7 63 3C
    AA CD FF 5F A6 01 B7 6A 3F AA B8 A3 B7 A3 CC FF
    5F
    End

    Device 1: 213
    Device 2: 42

    PID: 01 FF

Functions: you enter hex codes in the 3 digit EFC field with "h" as a prefix
    channel up: ha0
    channel down: h60
power: h40 (power toggle) alternate hc0 for discrete power on
    menu: h04
    program guide: h04
    display/info: h94 (non working)
    exit: hd0
    up: h48
    down: hc8
    left: h28
    right: ha8
    select: hd4
    sleep: h20 (discrete off)
    play: h98
    pause: hb8
    rew: h58
    ff: hd8

Assign your buttons and paste the results into IR

When my IR dongle came in the mail today, I couldn't wait to try out the upgrade code. I have it working on an HTPro and a 15-2117 now. The 'cobra' is getting put away.
