    It's kind of a kludge, but you can create an activity to send those commands. I did that to get my DVD player to turn on subtitles and switch to time remaining (instead of elapsed) with one button. There is probably a better way, though.

    No need to do so much work! Wow!

    I'll see if I can figger out something as I think it can be done with fewer keystrokes. Keep in mind that the Vudu UI does change from time to time. So if you are setting things up by the number of clicks and so forth, you may need to change it again at a later date...

    Of course, it would be simpler if they'd just have a "new rentals" section. Maybe that would be a good feature request for you to file. I don't know if anyone has ever thought of that (maybe - there's a lot of them).

    Oh.... as an addendum to my previous post.

    It takes exactly 27 button clicks to search for all movies in the last 6 months that are rentable and sorted by release date.

    No wonder my poor arthritic fingers are sore!!!

    Well I tried creating a macro on my Harmony 670 to go to Genres and search for new movies that are rentable.

    But no luck. Their term for macro is called a command sequence. It appears I can only use up to five commands in any one sequence. I didn't think that would be a problem until I found that I cannot figure a way for one sequence to call another one, thereby preventing me from chaining sequences together.

    So unless someone knows how to get around this, I'm pretty much screwed from what I was hoping to do.

    Right now, the only way I can see having a command sequence of 5 or less commands to get what I want is if VUDU's search criteria and filters were persistent.

    It's kind of odd.... After going through this excercise, I did notice that the sort criteria for the search results "is" persistent. i.e. If I set it to sort by "release date", it stays that way across sessions, until I change it to something else. I think it would be great if the rest of the search criteria elements exhibited the same behaviour.

    The connection into the I/O port needs to have the dongle pushed in really hard. I don't know how the production dongles work or look but the prototypes we have needed to be really pushed in hard.

    Finally got my Dongle yesterday.

    I was happily surprised at how sleek and unimposing it is. With the sticky tape and the notched design, it comes close to looking like it's an intergral part of the VUDU box (if you do a good job of hiding the wire to the back connector).

    I programmed my Harmony 680 days ago while waiting for the dongle to arrive.

    I plugged in the dongle and was all excited, but it initially didn't work with my remote. After re-plugging the connector in 3 times it finally came alive and now everything seems to be working great. Don't really know if I had a problem making a good physical connection or if it took a while for the box to recognize the dongle, but all that matters is that it now seems to be working.

    The only mod I made (so far) to my remote was that I assigned the right arrow button to the "Select" command and the left arrow button to the "Back" command. Doing that seems to give the remote a more realistic sense of up, down and left, right when using the arrow keys.

    When I get around to it I'll create a macro button to take me to my favorite movie search query. The VUDU "Home" command will really help to facilitate that. If I get it working like I think I can, I'll probably start ****'n and moan'n when VUDU changes their UI, which would force me to change my macro. But I promise not to **** and moan too much for the sake of future improvements.

    I'll use the dongle for probably for a week or so and if everything looks good, then I'll hold an official burial for my VUDU remote, when I bury it in my emeritus "Box Of Unused Remotes".

    Overall..... Great job VUDU!!!

    The last I heard from Universal Remote (Monday) was that the VUDU box will be in their database by Thursday. It will be in the AUX category.
