Some of them offered movie cash to se the movie which was emailed to you before the movie came out and then the movie was mailed out at video release date after film. In some cases if you canceled the video purchase but used the movie money they deducted it from the return price.

I think the first movie was Ted from last year where they did the pre-order a month or more before the film even came out in theaters.
Really? GI Joe (2013) is the first movie I recall being pre-order via Walmart before it's Movie release. Walmart D2D started Mar 2012. Ted was released in theaters June 29 2012. No way Ted was released at Walmart/UV preorder in-store in April or May 2012?

Walmart / Vudu perhaps. I meant Blu-Ray / Digital / UV pre-order before release in general, regardless of retailer. This might be a first for Wal-Mart and / or Vudu. There have plenty of Blu-Ray / DVD pre-orders with UV / iTunes copies prior to release in theater from other retailers was what I meant.

jeremymc7 isn't / won't this be a Disney released movie? In turn meaning we won't see Iron Man 3 with a UV code ?

And I hope people don't get hung up on the term "digital code" in the description for what's going to be on the Iron Man 3 release. It sure isn't the same as UltraViolet code ?

I have no idea. I would have hoped that when Disney bought the franchise they got the old movies as well. I wouldn't think anyone (especially Disney) would only buy part / current franchise and let another studio do whatever they want with the other part / old franchise.

This won't be the last BIG blockbuster movie that comes out this year that will have a preorder done on it before the movie comes out in theaters.

That's what I assumed as well since Disney bought the franchise we get screwed on any back titles and future titles of coming with a UV code

So......I dunno if there is going to be a place holder for the movie as I couldn't check out with it. There was option like get the first two movies or anything like that. It was more of special features, digital comic book etc. If they still have it I will take some pictures of it. I am just excited that this would be the second Disneyish movie release on vudu the first being toy story 3.
So it does include a VUDU copy of Iron Man 3? If so, what's the date when it goes active? It's worth preordering this since the eventual Blu-ray release from Disney will almost certainly only included an iTunes digital copy.

I saw the Iron Man 3 pre-order at Wal-mart yesterday for $24.96. I may be wrong but I read the package and there is no mention of a VUDU copy of Iron Man 3, just the blu-ray combo pack with a digital copy (assuming iTunes).

There were some extras such a digital comic and an app, plus a couple of "sneak peaks" of other shows on VUDU.

I passed on it because I would only want the VUDU copy of Iron Man 3. I was disappointed by the offer to be honest.

That's it? That's a pretty lousy promotion, especially at that price. No way does the regular Blu-ray copy of Iron Man 3 cost 25 bucks when it comes out.

I'm sure it will cost $24.99. All of the previous marvel movies cost $24.99 and up on release. Iron Man 3 will probably have the movie disc, possibly a second BR disc for extras, a DVD of the movie, and a digital copy disc. The DC disc may be absent if they do just a code, but I have no doubt that the price will be $25. Having said that, there's a possibility of a single disc, "movie-only" version that could be available for $19.99. WalMart did that for several recent releases.

Not the week of its Blu-ray release. The 3D copy will probably be no more than $27.99 and the 2D Blu-ray will be between $19.99-22.99. Shoot, I think I got The Avengers 3D for only 20 bucks when that first came out.

FYI - The $19.99 Target Avengers 3D deal was only because they didn't have the regular Blu ray combo pack that was in their weakly ad in stock.

"The Marvel's The Avengers movie that is featured in the week's ad is not available in a Blu-ray+DVD+Digital combo pack. To compensate the 3D with Digital combo pack has been reduced to $19.99.

Saw a new $5 Blu-ray display today...I picked up Chain Reaction, also noticed Scream, Scary Movie, Courage Under Fire, and a couple I already have on DVD. No Vudu/UV codes, but with $2 D2D (at least available on some) steps away, it beats the $7.88 bin, which my store does not have.
