Re: Early adopters IN LUCK with UV! Flixster upgraded SD movies to HDX!

At this point, I've been able to resolve this issue only by paying extra money for conversions. I could get upset about it but it's pointless.

None of my stuff has been upgraded either, but I upgraded the stuff I cared about already now that most of it is available through d2d at various providers.

I was wondering, When you upgrade do you get two copies of the same movie or does it actually convert the single Previous SD version ?

Can an "upgrade" be had from either D2D, or a new additional UV code ?

Re: Early adopters IN LUCK with UV! Flixster upgraded SD movies to HDX!

I don't see any way to upgrade movie quality in Flixster. I checked the app and the web site, and for both, I don't see any option to do that when looking at the movie details. (I'm checking one that I redeemed in SD through Flixster, as I would think Flixster might not be able to upgrade the quality of a UV locker movie.)

Those of you who said you have "upgraded", do you just mean paying $5 to convert a DVD to HD/HDX? I'd be very interested in upgrading items already converted if that's possible, but I didn't think it was currently possible.

Yes, I think they meant upgraded via D2D. I think it is a planned feature to offer upgrades, so I am waiting it out on some titles. But it can't get here soon enough!

Warner never offered HD Ultraviolet rights with their Blu-ray purchases until last mid last summer so people like myself who have been buying Ultraviolet movies since day 1 only received SD UV copies of movies released before they started giving HD rights and there was no way to re-register these codes to get HD. So if you bought Green Lantern on release day you would get SD UV but if you bought it now you would get HD UV. Since that is obviously unfair, users complained to Flixster though support tickets and some received HD rights to the movies they previously received in HD but some were told they were out of luck. Many of these Warner movies had been available for D2D from CinemaNow but not Vudu so impatient folks like myself just paid to do D2D for these and now Vudu has the D2D option for most of these earlier releases. After being told no a few times though Flixster finally got back to me and gave me HD rights for all of my Warner Blu-ray purchases. So now in my UV locker I have 3 different copies of these movies (SD Flixster, HD CinemaNow, and HD Flixster). I had only one movie that was not available for D2D from any service and that was "Journey 2" and they upgraded that as well as the ones I already paid for by doing D2D. So if you haven't it is worth it to put in a ticket to Flixster support to see if you can get HD for these older titles.

In addition to the upgrades I got in the OP, I encountered a problem with redemption of bluray UV codes via flixster. I emailed them and they were added as SD only. After emailing them, they finally fixed them to HD. I think most people here find a mixed experience via flixster support. I've gotten positive results by emailing WB support at uvsupport@wb.com. Perhaps those that haven't gotten anywhere should use this email instead of the flixster one.

Thank you for this. I emailed them, included the original code with each movie and one by one they upgraded my movies to HD. Here's what they upgraded.

                  THE DARK KNIGHT

                  GREEN LANTERN

HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS PT1

HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS PT2

                  HORRIBLE BOSSES

                  JOYFUL NOISE

I just emailed again about CONTAGION. I hope they give me this as well and I'll be set with WB SD to HD UV movie corrections.

I keep trying to get Universal to upgrade my Cowboys and Aliens, Killer Elite but they keep telling me HD isn't available (which I know isn't true). I'm not giving up though.

                  ***EDIT***

They just upgraded CONTAGION (SCORE!!!). They even upgraded GREEN LANTERN: EMERALD KNIGHTS. Now I'm finished with Flixster and WB

I just emailed the same request for these movies:

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2

Was finally able to get WB to upgrade the movies I hadn't already D2D'ed as I was tired of waiting for them. I had contacted them when this thread first went up and nothing. Now I am just waiting on the last 4 movies from them and then I have 4 movies from Universal that I will probably just D2D as I am tired of hearing the same bull**** from them. I would just D2D all of them and save myself the headache if they were all available.

You're not going to believe this but WB already upgraded these movies from SD to HD. It was lightning fast.

After many attempts I FINALLY got my Green Lantern updated to HDX today! Thanks for the heads up about Emerald Nights, didn't expect it, but that was upgraded as well! Luckily that was the only one I needed to be upgraded. Now I just need to get Universal to update Knocked Up which redeemed as SD from Blu-ray.

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU so much for providing that e-mail address. I thought I had sent a request to that one before, but it doesn't matter because this time it worked!!!!!!

I FINALLY got HD upgrades on THE HANGOVER PART II and A VERY HAROLD AND KUMAR CHRISTMAS!!!! It's stupid, I know, but I feel like I just won the lottery. I have lost track of how many different e-mails I have sent to WB and Flixster to get them to fix these upgrades. In the case of HAROLD AND KUMAR, I redeemed that code from THE 3D BLU-RAY COMBO PACK and STILL initially got the UV copy in SD!
But again, it doesn't matter now.

So, I am down to a handful of early WB titles that I need upgraded, but at least I have faith that I might actually get what I paid for finally. And then there's the whole COWBOYS AND ALIENS upgrade problem, but that's a problem with the usually excellent UNIVERSAL, and I refuse to give up on that one. And, of course, my SD copy of COWBOYS AND ALIENS still won't show up in MY VUDU collection, but there's a whole nother thread on that, and I'm still working on that one too.

FYI I was told by Universal that Cowboys and Aliens wasn't available as an HD redemption but then a few days later they upgraded it to HD on my UV account so there is hope.

I am ALL about hope now after my experience with WB/FLIXSTER this morning. In my case, I got that very same "HD is unavailable" email from Universal twice(!) about COWBOYS AND ALIENS. So, thank you for your story and giving me more hope about finally getting my upgrade.
