I'll be just short of 900 after a D2D transaction tonight, and hope yet to get around 950 by the end of the week, won't make it to 1000 before the current 50% off promotion and I'm disappointed about that, but maybe another month or two and I'll get over that first step and become a 1000 movie club member.......

I like bad movies. I own a lot of them! I'm mostly converting everything I can to free up shelf space. (My wife has been pressuring me to down-size my collection.)

The only 2 I'd want my watching-time back from are Ultraviolet (the awful movie -- not the service!) and Spielberg's abomination, E.T., with its anti-science subtext. I've been forced to sit through it 3 times now by family members, and it only gets more insidious. It does for science what Bambi did for hunting.

I've decided I hate the Vudu2go software. It doesn't recognize half my movies, and the ones I submit for correction don't get corrected. As soon as the half-price sale is over, I'm through with it. Easier just to bring everything to WalMart. I'm there a couple times every month anyway.

That's an insane amount of movies! About 1/3 of what is available on Vudu period... lol I have seen a lot of movies over my 50 years cough .... cough and there are many of them I wish I could get the 2 hours of my life back .. lol The burrbs and the Postman come to mind ... I just can't ever imagine buying them just to have in my collection. Someone would have to give those to me! But a very impressive number, congrats!

My swapadvd credits are building up with nothing much to use them on.

You got the original Predator. Most people don't, but it is a fine move to add to anyone's HDX collection. Guy film though. Cigars & guns.

Thx for the heads up on Sawadvd.com. Nice of you to share your secrets with us.

For me, my wife controls the budget. She approves disposable income purchases. I just got a $150+ through about a month ago and fear I am parked for awhile. My next marker is 500, but I think it will take me a long time to hoe that row.

Thx for the heads up, but I fear I will get it anyway just to close out the series.
Yeah sometimes I do a similar thing and because I'm getting hooked. For instance I bought the double feature of Lockout and Battle: Los Angeles even though I didn't care for Battle: Los Angeles that much but it had the UV for both of them at Walmart. I liked Lockout and it was only $12.97 for both of them.

This,of course, is a matter of taste. However, any presentation other than the Original Aspect Ratio (OAR) means you lose something to achieve it. For instance, many films are in 2.35:1 aspect ratio, which means you have black bars at the top and bottom, to achieve the 1.78:1 that most (if not all) HD TVs display some cropping must be done.

Most TVs have a "zoom" feature, or at least various display options, that will allow you to adjust the picture to fit your entire screen. You will lose the sides of the movie, just like if Vudu or the studio did the cropping. This is the best way to achieve what you want, because you can have it your way, and the people who are sticklers for movies in OAR can have it their way.

Upon rereading your post, maybe you meant you just wish studios would shoot in 1.78:1? I could go for that.

    damn solid collection!

I notice Crouching Tiger, but no other Chinese ones. There are a lot of good ones out there if you ever want to look into the foreign side of things.

Curse of the Golden Flower, I could recommend unequivocally. There is also one called The Banquet or AKA Legend of the Black Scorpion. Not out on Vudu yet, but very good. Also, House of Flying Daggers. The granddaddy is "Hero". Really a must see. Jackie Chan produced one called Legendary Amazons recently. Not as good, but still not too bad.

For French films, The Chorus got high marks and also Amelie.

Now with 4k coming If Vudu doesn't give us the option to go from HDX to 4k without going through this all over again. My old collection will likely stay HDX! I still don't understand why we can't upgrade from within Vudu when HDX becomes available for a couple bucks!

landing over the 1.8k hash mark with as much detail in HDX upgrades as you have put into it clearly indicates a labor of love.

    Again, quite impressive.

Maybe one day I will be cool like you.

    Very impressive numbers.

About what percent is HDX/HD vs. SD? Just curious. I have been bitten by the HDX bug and really find I demand it when doing transactions now.
