No, it's not 32 or 64 bit issue. Can you try an external USB drive?
There are at least 2 reports about RAID in the BIOS setting.

    Re: Error reading DVD disc.

I also cannot get dvds to work on disc to digital. I did get 2 Blu-Ray to load. If anyone has found a fix, please let me know. I have uninstalled, re installed (Google chrome, adobe air, adobe flash, disc to digital, vudu, rebooted, Looked at the drive and division 1 (OK there) and still will not work..... Also, I do have a Walmart, but when I went in, the gal in the photo center did not have a clue what I was talking about, and she also called the next closest Walmart and that salesclerk did not know anything about it either. I also sent the DxDiag.txt into Vudu, but have not heard anything back on that as of yet. I have Windows 7 Home premium and Google Chrome. It appears that this has been an ongoing unresolved problem. Is there a good workaround out yet?? Thanks

We will need to acquire the disc and reproduce the issue and then communicate with GN for this type of error.

I completely shut down Virtualbox. Windows 8 is powered down, virtual box service stopped, process is not in the list. Still getting the following.

There was an error reading this disc.

You may take this disc to your nearest Walmart store for instant conversion.

    Re: Error reading DVD disc.

Chalk up another case of the problem being fixed by switching the SATA mode of the onboard controller where the DVD/Blu-ray drive is attached from RAID to AHCI.

If you've got this problem and want to try, just remember you need to enable the AHCI driver before making the change. The simplest way to do this in Windows 8 is:

From an elevated command prompt, configure the system to boot into safe mode, which will enable the AHCI driver:

    bcdedit /set {current} safeboot minimal

Make sure you know your local Administrator account password, then reboot, enter the BIOS configuration and change the BIOS setting from RAID or IDE to AHCI, then reboot the system. You'll come up in safe mode. Log on and open an elevated command prompt and enter this command:

    bcdedit /deletevalue {current} safeboot

Then reboot again and your system will boot up normally.

This, of course, assumes you don't really need to be in RAID mode (as in you didn't specifically use that mode to set up a RAID array using devices attached to this controller). If you do, then you may succeed moving the DVD/Blu-ray drive to a different controller, if you have more than one.

If you have Windows 7 or earlier, you'll need to find other directions.
