Very cool. Thanks for the update. I'll go ahead with what I have stockpiled and then start the process again next month!

More importantly, I just got a couple of family members into this and I was concerned that the end of the discount would take the wind out of their sails.

Yes, I will definitely miss the 50% when it ends. I've converted all my blu-rays available because of this. I was hoping they would fix the remaining issues before lifting the 50%. If they decide not to extend it and the issues are not fixed by then. I will use other D2D options since I know my movies will convert there. It would be wise to extend it especially while they are still in the Beta phase.

AS was said, the 50% off price was the reason I converted all of my 500 discs that the service recognized. I would not have done many if any DVD and a lot fewer of my Blu-rays. It isn't that it is 50% necessarily but rather the price of 2.50 was motivational to me where the $5 price was not, especially as many discs I have on DVD are often available on Blu-ray for ~$5.
I am going to be more than a little miffed (regardless of the justification) if the discount goes away while none of the disc recognition error on (UV eligible) titles I submitted since the beta started have been corrected. It will certainly take away some of the goodwill I feel and advocating I've done for Vudu with F&F.

Very nice!!
Let's keep the Flixster talk to a minimum please. I'd hate for my thread to get locked like the other threads.

It would appear that most discs never get manually verified so it seems false information is being provided. In addition, Vudu has already claimed that the customer won't be contacted once a verification is complete during the beta program. Given that the beta is one year old you'd think it really wouldn't have been that hard to change that message to avoid further confusion.

I have spent easily $2000 with Vudu since they started the 50% deal, I doubt I will use the service if the 50% offer goes away.

What really gets me is when a disc is not recognized and after providing the title of the disc it still gives you this message:

    Thank you!
We are in the process of manually verifying your disc. We will contact you as soon as the verification is complete.

For instant conversion you may take this disc to your nearest Walmart store.

I've mostly got DVDs, so no Blu-ray support doesn't really screw up my plans. So getting rid of that discount means I'm more likely to walk to one of the other companies, especially if Vudu is going to continue dragging its feet on fixing these disc read errors.

I feel the same way...but then, once the sale is over and Vudu no longer has a price advantage I will immediately try all the discs that Vudu couldn't identify properly with the other D2D services. Right now, I'm still waiting to see if they might be fixed while the sale is still going on. But that's money Vudu could and should have taken.

All the blu rays I've tried were read through Flixster so I think it's official. From what I remember they did not announce when the beta ended either. It just stopped one day. Basically their BD prices and SD prices suck compared to Vudu (I see random pricing on SD movies through them). Another problem they have is when a movie is not in their database (like some multi movie discs) it will spit them out and give a message saying you are using a burned disc rather than letting you report the DVD. CN seems to be the closest in terms of quality compared to Vudu. I'm probably preaching to the choir, but once Vudu gets it's database and disc read errors together I will not look back.

I'm hoping they will consider making 10 or more 50% off it's allowed me to convert more movie than what I originally planned. If not I will probably do fewer conversions on only DVDs and Blu-rays I really want to keep in the UV cloud. Also for DVDs there is no reason for me to just use Vudu since there will be no price difference to convert DVDs to HD UV.
