Re: Disc to Digital Mobile: Only your smartphone required! 👍

Hello! Hoping to get some help/info from a Vudu moderator. I was very excited to try out the mobile disc to digital option on the phone app today, but I seem to be having one big issue. I understand that the app confirms your location on your phone, and I am at my shipping address as listed on my Vudu account info. However, when I try to scan a blu-ray, it keeps giving me this message: "Your address was not determined correctly. Please try again later."

Is this an issue I can resolve myself?

Just a guess here...on your phone, make sure GPS is on, and you are using your Data plan, and turn off wifi, because it may verifying location through your wifi/service provider, coming back with your service provider's location. Again, just a guess.

Thanks for the tip, but it didn't change anything
Location services is on, the Vudu app has locations permission, I turned my wifi off and my data on. Still comes up with the same error: "Your address was not determined correctly. Please try again later."

I finally got it to work. My address was listed wrong under my account settings. After I updated it, the app works great.

I'm still having issues with titles that didn't read with the vudu to go app. Only good thing about so far, that it is reading upc of newer titles but does me no good as I have those already in digital. I was able to scan about 8 titles so far that read with the mobile that did not with the vudu to go app.

I realized, one pro of this method over the disc scanning method is, if you have an old disc that is so beat up that it won't play (or is cracked) you can get yourself a digital copy.

It's the billing address that has to match, not the shipping address.

I was able to get my first free one. Pretty easy!

My question - I have my Walmart employee number in my Vudu account, that gives me 10% of purchases. Will that still work with scanning and buying? Edit: Just tested, and the 10% discount with my Walmart ID works. So happy to finally get some converted that was in-store only!

Looks like my issue was trying to use Paypal as my payment method. With paypal on my account, Vudu does not have a billing address on file...I had to add a credit card as my new payment method (which asks for a billing address). Using a card with my address seemed to solve my location issue, and I was able to try out the app for my first free conversion.

I live in an apartment complex and this app is having a very difficult time determining my location.
No matter what I do, I get the error "Location must match billing address" and here's the issue --- it does. If I use the map application and type in my address, I see my address pin, but it's about 25 feet away in someone else's yard. I'm not sure if I should take my discs over there and try to scan them or if it's just going to give me the same error?

I have gotten the app to work with no problem, but I am still frustrated with bar codes not being recognized. Vudu must make a better effort to listen to the customers about mapping problems and mistakes and ACTUALLY FIX THEM. We want this service and we want it to work as advertised.

2 examples - I have a copy of The Fugitive in blu-ray which is eligible -- but the version I own isn't being recognized (8-83929-33096-6). Am I expected to purchase the title again with the correct bar code and how do I know which bar code would work?

A second title -- Brokeback Mountain blu-ray and DVD is reading as a DVD only -- I don't want to pay $5.00 for an HDX version when clearly the Blu-ray should only cost $2.00. You lose a sale which can add up with a lot of customers feeling the same way.

By eliminating the in-store feature, you have taken away a set of eyes that can say -- yep, you own it, here's your movie.

I'm pleased by the new mobile app, just make sure you have good customer service to back it up.

It's definitely worth trying. The other thing you can do, assuming they're using the Google API, is submit a correction to Google Maps. That usually just takes a day or two for them to verify and update.

Awesome, I'll try that and post the results here.

I keep getting "Unable process the request. Please try again." when I scan an eligible movie. Any idea what that means.?

100% agree that the removal of in-store is disappointing for exactly this reason. The database is flawed and if the app is any indication, there has been no one correcting (or even looking into) issues for years. There are also plenty of fancier cases prior to UV that had removable sticker backs that the user likely got rid of. I'd hope, but given the history don't expect, that there would be someone to address the UPC issues.

D2D from VUDU is still a great thing even if it isn't 100% but it is always going to be extremely frustrating when it doesn't work and there is no recourse.
