I also updated my 940E and although Atmos is highlighted like Dolby Vision, my Onkyo TX-NR777 only shows PCM 2.0 and not Atmos. This happened with 4K UHD Captain America: Winter Soldier, The Amazing Spider-Man, and Aquaman. -

It?s not the Sony firmware update. I?m still on the older Sony 930e firmware from November and I?m getting PCM on my Onkyo receiver as well. Not only that I?m seeing weird color at times when watching Dolby Vision movies. For example a number of scenes in Avengers Infinity War have a purplish or greenish blue tint that display even outside the picture zone in what should be the black bars above and below the movie. A good example is the throne scene at 1:06:45. When Thanos is taking a number of times everything looks green. There was a Vudu app update on April 19 to version 5.0.114 which appears to have broken both since prior to that version Dolby Digital worked and the colors looked correct.
Please revert the Google Play Store app back to the 4.3.60.135718 version or update a fixed version.

Here?s a screenshot of the same scene with the Android TV Vudu app on the left and the Apple TV app on the right.
The stereo only also only happens on the 5.0.114 Android TV app. Apple TV plays Dolby Digital.

Casting doesn?t use the Vudu app on the TV. It uses the app on your mobile device along with the Google Chromecast app on the TV.Originally posted by soaptrail View PostComment

I have been trying to work with Vudu support to get an answer on this issue for the past 2 days with no success. I finally found this thread last night. I can't even get Vudu support to admit that there is a problem with the App and a timeframe on when it will be fixed. Has anyone else had any luck finding out when an updated app will be available so I can watch the UHD or even HDX movies on Vudu with the correct sound?Comment

I have a RCA RPJ129 Projector with an included built in Android TV (Amlogic s905 SoC, running Android 7.1). I'm able to run the Android TV version of the Vudu app (version: 5.0.121). I'm able to login and use the app but any HDX quality playback immediately fails due to a playback error. SD quality videos will play without issue. Sadly there's no way to force HDX quality to SD.
(The standard Vudu app does not run at all. Crashes immediately upon start up.)
Update: I think I determined the issue with my device and that it lacks Google's Widevine Security Level 1 support. Only supports level 3. This would explain SD only playing but not HDX quality.
Is there a way to force HDX content to play on the app in SD mode?Comment
