I don't want to abandon my Vudu but whats the use if I can't watch anything, regardless if its HDX or SD?

I have a roku 3 and it does the same thing sometimes.... all I have to do is simply unplug the roku and power it back on and the buffering is gone...

Re: Buffering makes Vudu service unusable

My fix was simple I blocked 72.21.81.254 with my firewall, for chrome, then I relaunched Vudu in chrome and now it works with out studdering or buffering. Looks like all traffic is being routed through the above IP for me. Now it works without issue. Looks like EDGECAST - EdgeCast Networks, Inc.,US holds that IP and it is over loaded. BTW I am on the East Coast.

Ok this is what happened I was constantly getting buffering even during SD play back, so I launched resource monitor Windows 10 and I noticed that IP was maxing out my connection (100mbit ds) no matter what I did. Even when I closed chrome that connection stayed active and maxed my connection out. As soon as I blocked it, Vudu started to stream correctly for every movie for about 5 hours without issue, when I stopped watching movies.

Thanks Daniel, I give it a shot.

I reported a ?buffering? issue that began to appear with my VUDU service two days ago that turned into a ?mental decathlon?.

When I initially contacted VUDU support via email they asked me for type of equipment I was using and the speed of my ISP service and provider (Cox Communications). I gave them my download speed (33.23 Mbps) and upload speed (6.18 Mbps) the type equipment I am using; Sony Blu-ray BDP-S3100/BX310, my modem, Motorola SURFboard SB5101U and lastly, my router, Linksys Wireless G WRT54G. Since everything checked out, they had me then do a ?trace? for them on my computer as well. No issues there since they determined I was ?connecting? to their servers.

But the best part was after nearly three hours on the phone after analyzing every possible setting on my Sony Blu-ray and router when they finally told me since I could not set a ?DHCP reservation? on my router it was outdated which could be affecting the 'quality of their' streaming'. Yeah, I'm sure. What absolute BRAVO SIERRA! I?m not about to replace a perfectly working router just to be able to facilitate VUDU?s service! But at the same time, I also believe this issue transcends any limitations due to my hardware.

It also seems very odd that I?ve been able to watch movies in HDX on VUDU before (and as far back as 10/23/14) without a hitch but now I suddenly find they are constantly ?buffering?. Perhaps it?s true that VUDU decided to ?load up? on their service without making any of the necessary upgrades to their hardware. A fateful corporate decision made by the ?suits? on high except their techs just ?didn?t get the memo? which is why I feel this issue remains unresolved.

So, when all else fails, there?s nothing like abdicating responsibility and ?passing the buck? eh?

    Well played VUDU!

Guess I won?t be patronizing your ?service? anytime soon until you finally admit you?ve got a problem on your end (like so many others in this forum feel you have) and you actually invest the time to ?fix? it.

You should call Vudu. I think they have a "fix it" button that they can push when they look up your account.

You didn't really provide enough info for us to help. If you give support a call at (888)554-8838, they should be able to help you with the issue.

You'll do a lot better to remedy your problem if you pick up the phone.

You can run tests on http://speedtest.vudu.com and then speedtest.verizon.com (or similar from your ISP), then to an external site, perhaps speedtest.net. I have 75Mb symmetric service over fiber to the premises (FIOS). I measure over 83Mb on the Verizon test and almost that much on the speedtest.net (so looking outside of ISP). At the same time of day I measure varying numbers from Vudu from zero up to around 5Mb.

Vudu gives me readings over 50Mb in off prime hours. They can't hold the prime time load and all they want to do is point you everywhere else like blaming your ISP. Very unprofessional. We don't have any recourse other than viewing your library at 3:00 AM. I have started purchasing on Amazon.com. They have no issue at all providing my streaming library during prime time.
    Hi David,

I was able to locate your case and updated it. Let me know if you have any questions.

So, from now on I think my family will be buying them at the store from now on with the digitalk copy. That way if vudu is throttling at high traffic times, we can just pop in the disc. It's too bad really because it was such a grear concept. But I myself am not going to be throwing more money into content that might not be available if Vudu goes down when people get the idea that they don't have access to the things they purchased. Just my opinion.
