For example, I wanted to buy 2 Disney movies The Journey of Natty Gann and The Last Flight of Noah's Ark, but I won't because both are incorrect.

If you come across movies that are incorrect, please post the details so they can be added to the list.

There is no excuse for all of these movies making it onto the Vudu service with incorrect aspect ratios. Some type of team must be formed to examine all films and compare the quality and aspect ratio with the actual data of the original films and shows to make sure it is correct before it is made available for purchase. There is no excuse for this, and I'm really sick of all the streaming sites like Vudu, Amazon, and Netflix constantly blaming studios for problems with content and accepting none of the blame themselves.

The streaming provider has a responsibility to make sure it is obtaining the proper copy of every video it licenses for rental and purchase by customers, people that buy and rent need to keep holding streamers to a higher standard and force them to put up unaltered content. Vudu and all the others need to get their asses on the phone and keep pestering the studios, and if they won't give up the true copies of films and shows then don't buy their licenses.

Anyone unhappy with an altered aspect ratio or bad quality video they purchased or rented, demand a refund from Vudu and explain you won't buy anything else until they get serious about this issue and take steps to fix this major problem going on.

Agreed!! In fact I just purchased 2 more movies and both sure enough were in the wrong aspect ratio. Honestly, I just don't get it. It's not that hard to check to make sure you are encoding it correctly especially since Vudu is a streaming service they should be the experts at making sure it's encoded in the correct aspect ratio. With the exception of a few to me it looks like the studios are sending the correct prints, but Vudu is encoding them improperly.Disney has always been bad about their prints being in the wrong aspect ratio, but Vudu should insist that the studios send the right print. For example, I wanted to buy 2 Disney movies The Journey of Natty Gann and The Last Flight of Noah's Ark, but I won't because both are incorrect. The only reason I have ended up with purchasing some in the incorrect ratio to begin with is because I was doing Disc to Digital and I didn't check before hand. I just assumed Vudu was doing there job, but I have been checking recently. They really need to get on the ball with QC. It really is surprising how many of the movies here are either the wrong aspect ratio or "pan and scan" source material was used to generate the streaming file.

I realize that there are tens of thousands of movies, but I truly believe Vudu should have a Quality Control team to view each movie file in its entirely for evaluation prior to posting it for sale or D2D.

If its too much to ask of Vudu workers, perhaps a few of the movie-UV-Vudu enthusiasts here would be willing to volunteer their services as "screeners" to evaluate HDX files before they go one sale to the public. Most of us have high quality home theater systems.

At least Vudu knows that WE are indeed watching their HDX files and we post our findings on the Vudu forum when something is not right with a file. Our reports are not petty. Many here are avid film afficionados and as such, our input should be taken seriously.

Freaks (1932) is window-boxed for the first few seconds in the opening scene immediately following the credits, then suddenly "pops out" to 4:3.

I am not sure, but this could be correct and is common of older films. I have seen countless fims from the 1920s and 1930s and it is somewhat common for the the opening titles to the window-boxed and then the actual feature is in 4:3.

Edit: I need to clarify this. I misread the post. While it is very common for older films to have opening title screens in a different aspect ratio than the main feature, it may be an issue if the beginning of the actual feature starts off in one ratio and then switches to 4:3. When I read the post about Freaks, I was thinking it was about the opening titles being different than the feature.

Wild America on Vudu is 1.33:1, should be 2.35:1. I purchased it through Vudu, but interestingly, my Vudu purchase plays correctly at 2.35:1 on CinemaNow. I hope Vudu can update their encode, as I hate to be forced to go to other vendors to see my Vudu purchases displayed correctly

Can you add series as well...? "Serial Experiments Lain" is an anime mini series from 1998 and is supposed to be in 4:3 aspect ratio, the first 6 episodes are fine but for some reason the rest have are stretched to 16:9...
