Dad called this morning to ask why he wasn't able to play The Godfather. I went through all the steps with him. After about 15 minutes, I asked him how many movies were in his library. He said 10. At some point over the last couple of days, his account was arbitrarily kicked off the system.

In the course of trying to debug the matter today, I unlinked then re-linked my account on UV, seeing if that would correct the matter. I am now locked out of my own UV account. Even though I have had three links for over a year now, the attempt to add the fourth link, something I should be able to do via the grandfathering mentioned previously, has kicked me down to two links. I will either have to ask my webmaster or father-in-law to unlink from my account simply to create the requisite space for me to re-link again. At that point, there is no guarantee that they will be able to add themselves. My 80-year-old father is completely out of luck. I have six UV people on my account. Only two of them can actually watch movies on Vudu despite no announcement of such a restraint.

I am absolutely livid at Vudu and UV for allowing such a horrific issue to exist for this long sans resolution. I am one of the most loyal early adopters of both technologies yet I have been prevented from watching my own library, for which I have spent several thousand dollars. It is *inexcusable*. I'm writing a friend at TechCrunch right now to see if anybody knows any workarounds. If not, the good news is that the issue may go viral over the next few days.
I had a very similar problem a few months ago after I was dumb enough to un-link and re-link my VUDU account to my UV account. I contacted UV, and pretty much got nothing. I then called VUDU customer service, and I was told there was nothing they could do. After another day passed, somehow, it was magically fixed by UV customer service without as much as an email letting me know everything was done. I pretty much just stumbled across it. What happened was there was a redundant link in my UV account. For some reason my original VUDU link did not unlink itself in the UV ecosystem, even though I told it to do so on the VUDU website. What they did was remove the original link so I could go in and re-link. Not sure if this helps you (or makes sense), but that's what I went through.

As for a possible solution to your problem, have you talked to VUDU or UV about possibly merging two of your accounts? Seems like you definitely got a raw deal when they went from 3 VUDU accounts down to 2, so they may actually let you merge 2 of them to keep the peace. You may have tried that already, but if not, all they can do is say no. Explain your whole situation and that may be the way to straighten it out. I have spent quite a bit of money on VUDU and UV as well, and I totally understand the frustrations of being an early adopter with all these bugs. Just keep telling yourself that, in the end, it'll all be worth it

Forgive my ignorance, but what is meant by "next UV update"?

Yes, there is the issue of someone making unauthorized purchases. That is a valid point.

What I do is one family member has a Roku linked to my account. However, the CC on file in Vudu has the balance kept in single digits. Money only goes into it when I want to make a Vudu purchase.

Anyway, I feel bad for the difficulty you are having. Hope it works out for you soon.

          Take care.

Re: Error linking Vudu to UV account

The Roku Vudu app now allows you to add a purchase pin to your account so you should be able to use that to prevent unauthorized purchases.

EDIT: This feature is also available on the PS3 Vudu app however the feature appears to be device specific and has to be setup for each device. It would be better if this feature was tied to the account, given that a CC is tied to the account, and was applied to all devices associated with the account.

I think they're referring to whatever they do on the backend. Since there's no software they provide, I would assume they make changes periodically and then we as users notice them with changes such as the linking limit. With the next update we'll notice that they've changed the UV to Vudu limit of two accounts. Hopefully they make an announcement. If not I'll be sure and let you guys know when I'm notified.

Re: Error linking Vudu to UV account

Hi, I been having this problem for 2 months now and it is still unresolved. My UV link was disconnected and I got the same error message from "Page 1" when I try to relink, and only 1 person is linked in my sub account right now, not 2. I contacted VUDU, and they told me I had to contact Ultraviolet. I gave them all the information, they were quick to reply and they told me to do steps to see what the problem was, after the 3rd email they said that this is a known issue and they will contact me when they find a resolution. A month later they sent me a message saying sorry for the wait and they are still working on it. It is month 2 and nothing has changed.

It is frustrating for me, but I am glad Ultraviolet hasn't forgotten me yet. I heard a lot of people with the same problem are getting relinked however I am still in the dark about this "known issue". VUDU link is not listed anywhere in my UV linked services. Could the old links be hidden whenever they did updates to their services? I don't know what else to do besides wait. I feel this is punishment for unlinking. I thought about removing my sub accounts to see if it would work again but Ultraviolet said not to make those changes since this is a known issue.

Thank you for reading. Have a good day.

I'm getting this error too. I wonder why it's taking so long for them to correct it.

Re: Error linking Vudu to UV account

So. I'm having a similar linking issue as many people here. My primary Vudu account (which includes non-UV purchases) is currently disconnected from my primary UV account, and I cannot reconnect. Vudu was no help (says the problem lies with UV) and I cannot access my linked services page on uvvu.com to make sure there are no magical additional connections to Vudu from my primary UV account because there is some problem there. Now, if I create another UV account (lets call it "primary-2"), link that guy to Vudu, then merge primary-1 UV account into primary-2 UV account (to maintain UV connection to Vudu and losing other connections), I should, in theory, have my Vudu account with non-UV purchases linked to a UV account that will have all of my UV purchases, correct?

Edit: Turns out this worked! I now have an extra member in my UV account, but I'm going to clean that up if/when UV ever fixes that issue. The issue with UV is that when I go into my account and look at the Member Details page, the entire page shows like a copied image of what it would look like (ie. no links can be clicked and the input fields cannot be edited). Anyone else seeing this problem in their accounts? It seems to affect every member of my current account; a new member with no other association to said previous account; using IE, Firefox and Chrome browsers and on my laptop, desktop and smartphone.

Re: Error linking Vudu to UV account

                      Wow....am I glad I found this.

I am almost afraid to try this!

It seems like this issue occurs when more than one user links to a vudu account.
But my needs are pretty simple so maybe I am okay?

I have an ultraviolet account and a vudu account. Another family member has an ultraviolet account and a flixter account.
I just want to add that family member to my ultraviolet account as a "sub-member" of mine.

Now....once I do that, I can tell them to create a vudu account in their name, but then they have to link that vudu account to my subaccount? Can they also link their vudu account in their name to both their UV account and mine?

Or....since they already have a flixter account linked to their UV account, can they just add my UV to that?

It seems like if I do this I could end up with the same problems others on this thread are having, so maybe I should wait until it is "fixed". But it looks like that might take a while.

                      Thanks for any help.

Thanks, I may try this if I don't hear back from Ultraviolet soon. All UV movies merged with no problems? I do wish UV would lift this 2 connection limit for a limited time so I can get reconnected without waiting for a resolution.

I am having this same issue. 1 of my 3 ultra Violet accounts wouldn't permanently link to Vudu. Decided to unlink 1 of the 2 accounts that were linked so that the 3rd would link up, but now non of the 2 unlinked accounts will link. Now I have only 1 account linked. My other 2 accounts won't link. It's ridiculous to have this limit with Vudu. I have no problem linking all my flixter accounts only Vudu. At this point I'm thinking of just stop buying with Vudu and move on to Flixter.

Yes, it was finally resolved. Able to link 2 accounts now. But that still doesn't fix the problem of been limited to permanently linking up our other UV accounts. We have up to 6 accounts on UV and all of us are paying customers at Vudu. Therefore it seems ridiculous that you VUDU only allow 2 of our 6 paying accounts to link up permanently to our payed services when we used to be able to be linked up at all times before. This is frustrating and makes us not wanna buy movies or shows from Vudu no more. It's too bad because as you can see in our accounts since you have access to them...we do buy a lot of stuff from Vudu, but who wants to deal with this problem when other companies including UV allows for all our accounts to be linked up.

I agree. Vudu insists that this issue is a limitation imposed by DECE, but as I still have 3 members linked to CinemaNow, and 4 linked to flixster, that is clearly not the case. Unless DECE only imposes that limit on vudu, which I can't imagine that being the case.
