For AMD chipset, probably BlurayFan has provided the solution to make sure BIOS doesn't have RAID and set at AHCI.

They'll only tell you that it's in "Beta" so that it's not supposed to work fully which is true as much as I hate to admit it.

The only bottle neck I can think of would it playing through USB. I just wonder if that would cause the bluray playback to be choppy or unstable.

What OS will you be using? If I have it (and I have time), I can plug the drive in and see how it does.

Using this player I've been able to get the DVDs I've tried so far to convert.
Does it work well for playing blurays? If I get one I might as well use it to add playback while I'm using it for converting DVDs.

That's the one I have that I mentioned in another thread! I'm quite happy with it...but I only find it useful for Blu-rays. I have tried every DVD that didn't work in both the built-in DVD drive and this external Blu-ray drive, but I've never had it make any difference -- every DVD that has failed in one drive has failed in the other.

You can look at your installed programs to see if you have it installed. Look under Control Panel -> Programs -> Programs and Features. It will be listed as Intel Rapid Storage Technology.

I did this download and this worked for me as well. Thank you all for the help.

I didn't even know I had RST, because it didn't show up in control panel. but once I installed it, it fixed my problem. But now I've run out of DVD's to add.
