I discovered this resolution last night but spent the day verifying I could reproduce the error and correct it with changing that setting. I have been able to verify it for this system. Dell XPS 7100, Windows 8 Pro 64Bit, LG BH08LS20 Blu-ray Writer.
    BlurayFan,

Do you have Intel Rapid Storage Technology installed? If so what is the version? I wonder if this problem can be fixed on your machine just by upgrading IRST to the current version 12.5.0.1066.

Download the third option, SetupRST, to get the installer. The other two are just driver files which can be installed manually.

You can look at your installed programs to see if you have it installed. Look under Control Panel -> Programs -> Programs and Features. It will be listed as Intel Rapid Storage Technology.

So it definitely sounds like a 11.6.0.1030 issue and the issue was introduced somewhere after 10.6.0.1002 and at least fixed by 12.5.0.1066.

You can install the current version 12.5.0.1066. I tested that version and it has no issue with our D2D software.

Anyway, I don't have exposure to all possible hardware/BIOS/IRST versions to know which combination can have this issue.

I have found the fix for the Lenovo G580 and I can't be certain if it is applicable for any other hardware, OS setup.

To have VUDU To Go working without "error reading" issue, you can upgrade "Intel Rapid Storage Technology" (a reboot is required). The current version is 12.5.0.1066. The one came with Lenovo G580 is 11.6.0.1030 and this one has problem with VUDU to Go.

I read the info about this technology and it's mainly for RAID configuration. However it does help single drive with below paragraph:
"Intel Rapid Storage Technology provides benefits to users of single drives as well. Through AHCI, storage performance is improved with Native Command Queuing (NCQ). AHCI also delivers longer battery life with Link Power Management (LPM), which can reduce the power consumption of the chipset and Serial ATA (SATA) hard drive."

I have tested and uninstalling the software would not crash your windows installation. As the page wrote it may use more power consumption for single drive installation. Of course you can upgrade to feel safer to have it.

Since the current version of IRST solve this issue we will not work with GN for the solution.

So far we know that any RAID configuration in BIOS or driver, and ISO mount, or decrypting software may cause this issue.

Please let us know if this upgrade can solve your issue. If it does not please look for drivers, software for RAID setup in the case you don't have RAID configuration.

It's true that AnyDVD or other software which may do ISO mouting, decrypting may give VUDU to Go software false positive error reading. However for the issue of the Lenovo G580, it's not AnyDVD. I've tried to uninstall 3rd party software but I couldn't workaround the issue. We are working with GN to understand this issue.

Anything you can find, please share.
